Joe Burrow grew up right outside Columbus, Ohio. Now, ahead of his first NFL game in the Ohio rivalry of Cincinnati-Cleveland, the Burrow family is remembering simpler times.
Burrow's father, Jimmy, tweeted out this amazing throwback look of his son ahead of the same fixture nine years ago. This time, though, the family has a clear team to root for.
Burrow has admitted he was a Browns fan for a time growing up, switching around from other teams like the Vikings and Saints. Jimmy Burrow was still a defensive coordinator for Ohio University until he retired as one of the nation's longest-tenured coordinators back in 2018. The Ohio roots dig deep.
Of course, Burrow spent time as a backup quarterback at Ohio State before transferring and exceling at LSU. His Heisman season in 2019 was one of most productive seasons from a college football quarterback, and he's continuing to play at a high level for the Bengals.
At 1-4-1, however, Burrow has the chance for a marquee divisional victory over his Ohio neighbors. For the Burrow family, it's all about what Coach Ed Orgeron would say if he was rooting for Cincinnati: Geaux Bengals.
