As we move toward a new era in Washington football, the nostalgic posts on social media continue to pour in from fans and former players. The latest to look back on their time here in D.C. was former quarterback Jason Campbell.
Campbell was drafted 25th overall in the 2005 NFL Draft and was seen as the future face of the team. After the Redskins acquired veteran Donovan McNabb, though, Campbell was traded to the Oakland Raiders in April 2010 for a fourth-round pick.
There's no question that Monday's announcement of the retirement of the name "Redskins" brought out all kinds of emotions from both the fanbase and alumni, but as Campbell points out, "Years come and go, but memories will always be there".
That's something that will take time for many to adjust to, and it's understandable, but either way, the new era in D.C. is moving full steam ahead.
