FOXBOROUGH - After making his NFL debut in the Redskins preseason opener against the Patriots, rookie running back Derrius Guice left the field with the help of the team's medical staff near the end of the first quarter of the Redskins' 26-17 loss to New England.
Guice went down awkwardly after breaking off an impressive run. The run was negated by a penalty, but it was the first real flash of Guice's talent and potential.
Once off the field, the Redskins medical staff immediately took Guice to the trainers table and examined his left knee. Last season at LSU, Guice dealt with a nagging left knee injury.
Redskins PR confirmed that Guice was being examined for a knee issue.
Guice was getting the ball plenty early in the first quarter, though his stats were underwhelming. He rushed six times for 19 yards.
On the sequence in which he got injured on, however, Guice showed a sweet spin move and a vicious stiff arm.
UPDATE — 9:04 P.M.
