Redskins quarterback Dwayne Haskins joined an exclusive group of Burgundy and Gold football players on Wednesday, and it has nothing to do with anything he's done on the field.
The second-year passer inked an endorsement deal with Eastern's Automotive Group on Tuesday, better known as Eastern Motors. Haskins has become the latest of a pipeline of Redskins players to have a deal with the brand.
Eastern Motors is well-known around the DMV, but for the most part, not because of their automotive work. For years, they've had a partnership with Redskins players, where the players sing a catchy jingle in a commercial to promote the dealership.
Former Redskins players Clinton Portis, Chris Cooley, Santana Moss, Jason Campbell, LaVar Arrington, Antwan Randle El and others all participated in commercials for the car dealership during their tenure with the Burgundy and Gold. Even Baltimore Ravens linebacker Ray Lewis got in the action, too.
Just ask any Redskins fan that watched television during the 2000s, and they'll tell you they are quite familiar with the Eastern Motors jingle.
In addition to the several Washington players, the commercial below featured the late Chief Zee, who was a longtime and well-known Redskins fan.
Eastern Motors has also filmed commercials with other prominent D.C. athletes, such as Capitals winger Alex Ovechkin and Wizards guard Bradley Beal. Now that Haskins has signed the endorsement deal, it's likely only a matter of time before he's featured in one, too.
To anyone still reading this, I'd like to apologize. Why? Because the "at Eastern Motors, your job's your credit" jingle will be stuck in your head for days to come.
