RICHMOND -- The Redskins organization collectively held their breath for a few minutes during Wednesday's training camp practice, as first-round pick Montez Sweat was forced to leave the session early with what appeared to be a lower leg injury.
The rookie limped off the practice field before taking a knee and speaking with the trainers on the sideline. After the initial conversation, he was then taken into the Redskins medical tent next to the field, but left soon after to enter the team's facility for further examination.

But thankfully for the Redskins, Sweat's injury does not seem to be serious, and could have been a product of the scorching temperatures they practiced in today.
Was told cramps for Montez Sweat. It’s crazy hot out here. Medical staff checking things out.

Following practice, Redskins head coach Jay Gruden emphasized that Sweat's injury was minor and that the rookie will be just fine.
Gruden said that Sweat was "kicked in the calf" and will be okay, according to NBC Sports Washington's JP Finlay.
The Redskins catch a break, as Sweat is expected to have an immediate impact for the Burgundy and Gold. The rookie has yet to truly showcase what he's capable of, and could benefit from as many reps as possible.
Whether Sweat will practice on Thursday has yet to be determined. The Redskins are off on Friday before returning to the practice field on Saturday for fan appreciation day.
