Newly signed Redskins safety Sean Davis has plenty of reasons to be excited to join the Burgundy and Gold for 2020. Some of the big reasons include getting to play back home where he grew up and went to college, pairing up with Landon Collins in the secondary, and wearing the same colors as one of his idol, Sean Taylor.
A smaller, but still nice added bonus is that joining the Redskins also means that Davis can attend Washington Capitals hockey games without boos raining down on him throughout the contest.
During an interview on the Redskins Talk Podcast, Davis pointed out that he is a Capitals fan. That makes sense considering his connection to the DMV, but it was good to know that Davis' time in Pittsburgh didn't lead him to cheer on the Penguins.
In fact, Davis' fandom never waivered in enemy territory. Heading to hockey games with Steeler teammates, there were only certain games he would go to. Ones that would allow him to stick out in his red jersey.
"Every time I went to the Penguins game it had to be the Caps and I always wore my Caps gear in the Penguins box with all my teammates, making everyone mad," Davis told the podcast. "But I stood strong though, [I] swear."
Rocking the red in that environment is no easy task, but Davis' effort demonstrates his loyalty. Now with the Redskins, no one will be mad if he's spotted in a Caps jersey.
