As Ron Rivera looks to build out his staff, he has already had multiple meetings with Kevin O’Connell, sources told NBC Sports Washington's Julie Donaldson.

O'Connell is under contract with Washington through 2021.  Should the Redskins decide to let him interview with other teams, the offensive coordinator will have plenty of options — per sources.

In his introductory press conference on Thursday, Rivera said he was actively working to build his new staff. The team announced Jack Del Rio as the next defensive coordinator earlier this week.

"We’re in the interview process right now. We’ve got several names that we’ve reached out to," Rivera said Thursday. "We’ve gotten permission to bring some of these guys in, and we’ll be going through that process now. We’re in the beginning of it and it’s going to take a little bit of time."

The news comes on the same day that the NFL Network reported Rivera is also interviewing Panthers offensive coordinator Scott Turner.
