Preston Smith is getting paid.
The outside linebacker is reportedly signing with the Green Bay Packers, according to ESPN's NFL Nation Packers reporter Rob Demovsky. Smith is yet another free agency addition to the Packers defense, who are reportedly signing former Ravens edge rusher Za'Darius Smith and former Bears safety Adrian Amos.
Smith is expected sign a four-year, $52 million deal with $16 million guaranteed at signing and $27.5 million overall over the first two years, according to sources of NFL insider Ian Rapoport.
Tuesday has marked a huge payday for linebackers. C.J. Mosley is expected to sign a five-year, $85 million deal with the New York Jets.
Drafted by the Redskins in the second round of the 2015 NFL Draft, Smith started all 16 games in 2018, but recorded a career-low four sacks and five tackles for loss. He hasn't missed a contest in his four seasons in the league, but needs to produce more consistently on the edge to make this signing worth it for Green Bay.
