The final day of the 2018 NFL Draft is officially here.
After two days and three rounds of compelling draft picks and storylines, all 32 NFL teams will have one more day to use their picks wisely and select the prospects that best fit their system.
The Redskins began the 2018 NFL Draft with just two picks in the first three rounds. But a Friday night trade to move down in the second round netted the Redskins the third-round pick they traded to Kansas City as part of the Alex Smith trade.
By the end of the third round, the Redskins had drafted their ideal defensive tackle in Da'Ron Payne (No. 13), their ideal running back in Derrius Guice (No. 59) and a raw but talented offensive lineman in Geron Christian (No. 74).
So who will the Redskins draft on the final day of the 2018 NFL Draft?
The Redskins will begin Saturday with five picks.
Here are the Redskins' Day 3 results from the 2018 NFL Draft.
REDSKINS 2018 NFL DRAFT LATE ROUND TRACKER
Troy Apke, S. Penn State: Round 4, No. 7 (No. 114 Overall)
Rich Tandler's player analysis on Troy Apke
The Redskins passed on a chance to draft Florida State safety Derwin James, widely considered one of the top five athletes in the draft, in order to draft defensive tackle Da'Ron Payne. So with their first pick on the final day, the Redskins reached for Penn State safety Troy Apke, who wowed scouts with high-end athleticism and great Combine numbers. The knock on Apke is that he is more athlete than football player right now, and only had two interceptions in college. Here is what former NFL head coach Mike Martz had to say about Apke at the NFLPA Senior Bowl. “I think the four years that I’ve coached that [NFLPA] bowl game, he’s the best player we’ve had."
Tim Settle, DT. Virginia Tech: Round 5, No. 29 (No. 163 Overall)
Rich Tandler's player analysis on Tim Settle
Redskins' fifth-round pick Tim Settle was considered a second or third-rounder by some, so it's safe to say the team acquired great value in the 6-foot-3 defensive tackle. Settle is the Redskins' second addition to the defensive line after they took Alabama's Da'Ron Payne in the first round. Settle expands the Skins' defensive line options, and should add a good deal of flexibility they haven't had on the D-line in a while.
Shaun Dion Hamilton, LB. Alabama: No. 23, Round 6 (No. 197 Overall)
Rich Tandler's player analysis on Shaun Dion Hamilton
With Shaun Dion Hamilton, the Redskins drafted their fourth Alabama player in two years. There are some injury concerns for the inside linebacker, which helps to explain why he slid all the way to No. 197, but he says his rehab is progressing well. The Redskins traded up for the pick, which says something about his potential value to the team.
Greg Stroman, CB. Virginia Tech: No. 23, Round 7 (No. 241 Overall)
Rich Tandler's analysis on Greg Stroman
Trey Quinn, WR. SMU: No. 38, Round 7 (No. 256 Overall)
Rich Tandler's analysis on Trey Quinn.
