The Redskins’ are bringing back their kicker.

The team announced that they have re-signed Dustin Hopkins, who has served as the team’s place kicker since 2015.

Hopkins missed eight games last year with a hip injury. He made 14 of 17 field goal attempts.

His field goal accuracy is not near the top of the league—his career mark is a pedestrian 83.9 percent—but he has one of the strongest kickoff legs in the league. A total of 75.2 percent of his kickoffs went for touchbacks, the sixth-highest percentage in the league. Hopkins’ net kickoff average was 45.1 yards, the best in the NFL. That is what helps him keep his job with the Redskins.

Hopkins was scheduled to be an unrestricted free agent. Terms of his contract are not yet known.
