Despite all the additions the Redskins have made since free agency began, one position has been noticeably absent from the flurry of additions: Wide receiver.
That is no longer, as Washington is reportedly signing former Broncos and Giants pass-catcher Cody Latimer, according to NFL Network's Mike Garafolo.

Similar to a majority of the Redskins signings this offseason Latimer isn't a big name that is going to grab the headlines, but he can be looked at as another solid depth piece.
What Latimer, a second-round draft pick of Denver in 2014, has going for him is experience. Entering 2020, he has six years of playing time in the NFL. What he doesn't have is a ton of big numbers in the stats department. His best season of catching 24 receptions for 300 yards and two touchdowns as a member of the Giants.
Those numbers were put up in 2019, so he is at least coming off his best year as a pro with the potential to improve even more. At 6'2'', Latimer is more likely to line up in the slot position rather than on the outside. But with Trey Quinn still not meeting expectations, Latimer has the chance to earn valuable snaps in that role.
Much like the signing of Richard Rodgers at the tight end position, Latimer isn't going to marginally improve the receiving core for the Redskins. However, he will come in and compete, and potentially prove to be a consistent pass catcher for Dwayne Haskins.
That being said, Washington still has question marks in the group. Though Terry McLaurin's rookie year proved he can be a No. 1 option and Steven Sims impressed, the rest of the depth chart leaves much to be desired. Missing out on Amari Cooper didn't make matters any easier.Â
That could all change in a month, however, with a loaded pass-catching group available in the 2020 NFL Draft.
