RICHMOND — Redskins running backs coach Randy Jordan has always been an energetic guy. This season, though, he seems even a bit more fired up than years past.  Why?

Well, you'd be bouncing around at work, too, if the people you were managing were as talented and had as much potential as Jordan's group does.

"I'm going to tell you, I look over there and see 29, 26 and 25 — I said like, 'Thank God,'" Jordan told a fellow staff member while he was wearing a mic for NBC Sports Washington during a training camp session.

Of course, he's referring to Derrius Guice, Adrian Peterson and Chris Thompson, a versatile trio who figure to be the driving force of Washington's offense in 2019. The first is a still totally unproven but possibly very explosive youngster, the second is a surefire Hall of Famer and the third is a multi-skilled speedster.

"I don't think I've ever had these many running backs in one room," he was heard saying to Thompson during a different portion of practice.

Washington's defensive line is regarded as the team's best unit, as they should be. However, Jordan's guys could be major difference-makers as well. Jay Gruden and Jordan need to have a solid plan for featuring the three options, but if it works out, opposing defenses should have lots of issues trying to stop the Guice, Peterson and Thompson-led attack.

"They've gotta go in there and be like, 'Look man, that guy just ripped off a 30-yard run, it's time for me to rip one off," he said.

Jordan, like plenty of others who follow the league, is especially impressed by Peterson. The 34-year-old doesn't exactly look like he's 34, and Jordan was desperately trying to figure out how Peterson pulls that off.

"I want to know," he pleaded with Peterson. "You have like Benjamin Button or something. Just going in reverse, man."

Hopefully, if Jordan finds out the secret, he'll share. No one likes to age, and Peterson appears to be holding off that process quite well.
