On the eve of their first appearances in a Redskins uniform, seven of the team’s eight draft picks have signed their NFL contracts. The team announced that every draft pick except for third-round pick Deron Christian has signed.
DL Daron Payne, RB Derrius Guice, S Troy Apke, DT Tim Settle, LB Shaun Dion Hamilton, CB Greg Stroman, and WR Trey Quinn all signed four-year contracts, as is standard by the CBA. They are all set to participate in the Redskins’ rookie minicamp, which runs tomorrow through Sunday.
While other teams have signed some of their draft picks, no first-round pick had signed a deal until Payne inked his.
Payne was taken by the Redskins with the 13th overall pick of the draft. The 6-2, 311-pound defensive lineman out of Alabama is expected to bolster the team’s rushing defense, which was last in yards allowed in 2017.
Per OvertheCap.com, Payne’s deal is worth $14.5 million over four years including a signing bonus of $8.6 million.
