RICHMOND - Zach Brown held nothing back when he discussed the return of Terrelle Pryor to Redskins traning camp, this time with the receiver wearing a different jersey.
"The boys are gonna have it out for him. We can put hands on him now," Brown said on The Team 980 during Redskins minicamp.
The veteran linebacker has a point.
This time last year, Pryor was the Redskins biggest free agent acquisition. A mega-athletic wideout poised to make a major impact in Washington's offense teamed up with Kirk Cousins. Throughout training camp, Pryor, fans and much of the media posted videos on Twitter and Instagram showing his skill. Had Pryor delivered in the regular season, it's unlikely Brown would have cared about the training camp videos. Only that didn't happen.
"The boys were already hot for what he was doing last year," Brown said. He added, "Try to one-hand something while you’re with the Jets, you’re gonna catch a forearm."
And now with the Jets scheduled to spend three days in Richmond practicing with the Redskins, Pryor faces the actions behind Brown's words.
The wideout doesn't sound overly concerned.
#Jets WR Terrelle Pryor on next week’s practices with his former teammates with the #Redskins: “If they take dirty shots, we’ll handle that accordingly”
— Connor Hughes (@Connor_J_Hughes) August 2, 2018
There's a lot of ambiguity in Pryor's words. Handling something accordingly could mean that coaches calm down players. It could also mean something else entirely.
For anxious fans waiting to see what happens, it won't be long. The Jets arrive for practice on August 12th.
Remember, too, the last time the Redskins hosted another team for joint practices ended with an ugly fight in 2015.
