Several reports came out Friday night that Trent Williams axed a potential draft-night trade that would've reunited him with his former QB, Kirk Cousins of the Minnesota Vikings.
"No, that's not true."
These are the four words Redskins OT Williams declared to ESPN's John Keim in response to those rumors.
Several teams were engaged with Washington in pursuit of the 31-year-old tackle, NBC Sports Washington's JP Finlay reported Friday afternoon. One of which was the Vikings who initially offered a Day 3 pick, in which Washington easily turned down.
The two teams remained in "constant contact with one another," to get a deal done, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, but the Vikings went on to select OT Ezra Cleveland with their 58th pick because Williams made it known "he rather not go to the Vikings."
Washington will now have to continue their mad scramble to unload the disgruntled seven-time Pro-Bowler, and trust that the longer this thing drags on the less value they'll receive for him.
