Reserves lead Magic to win over Wizards

ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) J.J. Redick scored 17 points and fellow reserve E'Twaun Moore had 15 on Wednesday night, leading the Orlando Magic to a 90-83 win over the Washington Wizards.

Redick had four 3-pointers in leading Orlando to its fourth straight win. Arron Afflalo had 15 points for the Magic.

Nene had 20 points off the bench for the Wizards, who lost their fifth in a row. Jordan Crawford added 19 points and six assists.

The Magic took a 76-63 lead into the fourth quarter but started the period shooting 3 for 15, giving the Wizards an opening they failed to capitalize on.

Cartier Martin hit back-to-back 3-pointers and Emeka Okafor scored on a layup to pull Washington to 85-81 with 4:02 left in the game.

The Wizards had three more possessions to cut the lead further, but Okafor missed two shots from five feet and Crawford turned the ball over to stop the rally.

Redskins scouts make it to Colin Kaepernick’s workout despite venue change

Redskins scouts make it to Colin Kaepernick’s workout despite venue change

Colin Kaepernick was given an opportunity by the NFL to work out in front of NFL scouts, but decided to change locations after his camp determined the league didn’t create “a transparent and open process.”

The Redskins, who sent a scout to attend the league-organized practice, made it to the other facility in time to watch him play, according to USA TODAY.

The NFL released a statement shortly after, expressing disappointment in Kaepernick’s decision.

Some scouts had already arrived at the Atlanta Falcons’ practice facility where the workout was scheduled to start at 3 p.m. when Kaepernick’s lawyers announced the venue change. Instead, the session was held at Charles Drew High School, which is about an hour away from the Falcons’ facility.

At least one Redskins scout made the trip anyway. Washington’s quarterback situation is muddled with rookie Dwayne Haskins making just his second career start Sunday while Alex Smith continues rehabbing from a leg injury that may never allow him to play football again.

Nevertheless, the team did its due diligence and is in Atlanta to see what Kaepernick still has in the tank.

Redskins move Cam Sims to active roster ahead of Week 11 matchup with Jets

Redskins move Cam Sims to active roster ahead of Week 11 matchup with Jets

Once again Cam Sims has been brought onto the Redskins active roster from the practice squad ahead of Week 11.

The Redskins made the move to bring back the wide receiver a day before their home contest against the New York Jets. The 23-year-old had been on the practice squad since Oct. 22 after he was waived earlier in the year.

Sims, one of the many Alabama products on the Redskins, joins the 53-man roster for the second time in 2019. He played two snaps in the Redskins' Week 5 loss to the New England Patriots.

A miraculous debut in the 2018 preseason instantly made Sims a fan-favorite. Yet that success has not translated at all in games that matter. Three snaps are all the young WR has garnered in his two years with the Redskins. He's had more transaction shuffling between the practice squad, the injured reserve and the active roster than on the field.

However, three total snaps are not nearly enough to judge the potential upside of Sims. Washington's receiving corps has struggled this season and are looking for answers for the remainder of this season and beyond.

In a corresponding move, the Redskins released linebacker Tanner Vallejo.
