Brian Roberts hasnt decided on whether to have season-ending surgery on his right hip. Orioles manager Buck Showalter said that Roberts had three options he was considering. Hes still gathering information, Showalter said. Hes going to decide between the three.Nick Johnson, who was placed on the disabled list on June 28 with an injury to his right wrist, received a cortisone injection in Sarasota, Fla. Hes not close to picking up a bat, Showalter said.Jim Thome was acquired two days after Johnson was put on the DL, and Showalter said that it wasnt impossible to have the two left-handers on the roster.Lets get Nick healthy. We can always figure out a way, Showalter said. Endy Chavez was reactivated from the disabled list after he missed a month with a right hamstring injury. Originally Chavez thought he could avoid the disabled list, but the recuperation took longer, much longer, than he thought. It was tough. I continued to feel it, Chavez said.Ive been through these before, and I knew to play again, I have to feel no pain. The pain stayed so long.Taylor Teagarden is continuing with his rehab assignment at Delmarva on Friday. Showalter said that he might consider using Teagarden, who hasnt played this season due to a back injury, on Saturday. Stu Pomeranz, whos been on the 60-day disabled list with a strained left oblique, is scheduled to begin a rehab assignment on Sunday.
