During Sunday’s National Women’s Soccer League match between the Chicago Red Stars and Seattle Reign FC, U.S. Women’s National Team star Megan Rapinoe knelt during the national anthem in a show of solidarity with San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick.
"I felt like it was the right thing to do. I think it was the right time to do that," she said on Tuesday. "I've talked to people who are equally inspired and outraged, and I welcome both of those conversations and think that they are both incredibly important. I think over all it's been positive.
CSN’s Sebastian Salazar spoke with Rapinoe on Tuesday and the midfielder discussed the act of protest and says she plans to kneel during the national anthem again on Wednesday, when her Seattle team plays the Washington Spirit at the Maryland Soccerplex in Montgomery County.
