Thanks to customization, getting your name on the back of a jersey is no big deal.
Getting your face on the back of a game-worn uniform, though, is pretty freakin’ neat.
As part of Major League Soccer’s Fan Appreciation Month, fan images will be printed within the numbers on the back of players jerseys across MLS. The initiative was made available to a specific number of each club’s season ticket holders.
D.C. United players will don the special uniforms at Saturday’s home match against Real Salt Lake.

MLS clubs are scheduled to wear the jerseys for all regular season games during the month of August. The Mexican National Team -- along with multiple European clubs -- have used similar techniques to engage fans, but MLS is the first to launch such an initiative leaguewide.
