In a sad day for flying soccer balls but a good day for sleek, patriotic shields that simply look really cool, it appears that USA Soccer has revealed a new crest, signaling the end of the one that has been on the team's jerseys for over a decade.
While the official U.S. National Team's Twitter feed has yet to put out an announcement regarding the crest change as of this writing, tweets have been flooding in from all over the sports world of people who've received packages featuring the fresh logo, and the account has been retweeting those messages as a stamp of approval on the news. There have been hints of a change during the past few days, including the removal of the old design from its social media platforms.
Here is a sampling of the reaction to the update, which, at a quick glance, has been very positive:

Sometimes, simplicity is best. The new crest definitely passes the test and will look great on the player's chests (sorry, once the rhyme train got rolling, it was hard to stop).
Overall, the logo screams 'Murica, and is getting a thumbs up from almost every person who has reviewed it. The flying ball has yet to comment, however.
