For the first time in franchise history, the Washington Capitals are Stanley Cup champions!

It took the Caps just five games to dispatch the Vegas Golden Knights to finish off their remarkable postseason. After a history full of playoff heartbreak, Washington battled back from a 0-2 series deficit to win four straight against the Columbus Blue Jackets, beat their archrival Pittsburgh Penguins, faced elimination only twice and won both games in a shutout and went 4-0 in games in which their opponents faced elimination.
