Wizards play tribute video, hold 24-second moment of silence for Kobe Bryant

In the first game at Capital One Arena since Kobe Bryant's tragic death, the Wizards played a tribute video and held a moment of silence to honor the NBA legend.

The crowd held a 24-second moment of silence to honor one of Bryant's jersey numbers during his time with the Lakers.

The Wizards came out in the black "City" jerseys they wore throughout last season with Bryant's last name on the back of each jersey. Half the players wore No. 8 and the other half wore No. 24.

According to the team, those jerseys will be signed and sold for auction with the proceeds benefitting the MambaOnThreeFund.

The Wizards' coaching staff, along with Ted and Zach Leonsis, wore various Kobe shoes for the game as well.

Thursday marked the third game in which the Wizards participated in some form of Bryant tribute. There's no telling how long teams plan to continue to honor the late NBA legend, but Bryant's impact on NBA players cannot be overstated.

Isaiah Thomas arrives at Wizards vs. Hornets in Kobe Bryant jersey

The sports world was gutted by Kobe Bryant's untimely death in a helicopter crash Sunday. Especially Wizards guard Isaiah Thomas.

Bryant was the reason Thomas started playing basketball as a kid, and when the two-time All-Star broke out in Boston, he became friends with his idol.

For the Wizards' first home game since Bryant's passing, Thomas arrived at the game wearing the classic No. 8 Lakers jersey.

"He was one of the people that was there for me and in my corner," he said on Sunday. "And then I got injured, he was one of those guys that was there for me the whole time, helping me through mentally."

The Wizards and Hornets are scheduled to tip-off at 7 p.m. ET and you can tune in as early as 6 p.m. on NBC Sports Washington for the start of our pregame coverage.

DeMatha basketball team honors Kobe Bryant by wearing his shoes

DeMatha basketball team honors Kobe Bryant by wearing his shoes

Every basketball team, high school, college or pro, has made a concerted effort to honor Kobe Bryant following the NBA legend's tragic death Sunday. DeMatha basketball is no exception.

Ahead of their clash with Paul VI on Tuesday, DeMatha head coach Mike Jones tweeted a picture of his team wearing nothing but Bryant's signature shoe. Every player plans to wear their favorite pair of Kobe's for the game.

DeMatha also announced their plans to honor the late Morgan Wootten for the next two seasons with a patch on their jerseys.

Bryant's impact stretched far beyond Lakers fans. He inspired an entire generation to pick up a basketball and commit themselves fully to their craft. As Bradley Beal explained following the Wizards loss to the Hawks, Sunday, "He was our [Michael] Jordan."

PVI and DeMatha are the top two teams in the Washington Catholic Athletic Conference, so all things considered, this game is probably a must watch.
