Drafting Otto Porter
The Wizards selected Big East Player of the Year Otto Porter with the third overall pick in the 2013 draft. Porter is expected to mesh well with John Wall and Bradley Beal to have an immediate impact as a rookie.
June 27, 2013: Draft day trade for Glen Rice Jr.
The Wizards acquired Glen Rice Jr. on draft day after sending the 38th pick and the 54th pick to the Philadelphia 76ers. Rice Jr. averaged 29 points and 11.5 rebounds a game in the D-League championship series.
July 1, 2013: Signing PG Eric Maynor
Free agent point guard Eric Maynor has agreed to become John Wall's back up. Maynor averaged 4.5 points, 2.8 assists and 15 minutes a game last season for both the Oklahoma City Thunder and Portland TrailBlazers.
July 2, 2013: Re-Signing Martell Webster
Martell Webster will return to the Wizards after agreeing to a four-year, $22 million deal. Webster averaged 11.4 points a game and shot 42.2 percent from 3-point range last season.
July 12 - 22, 2013: Summer League
The Wizards will participate in the NBA Summer League from July 12-22. They will be able to develop young players such as Jan Vesely, Chris Singleton and Otto Porter while seeing what other talent they could sign to the roster.
September - October 2013: Training Camp
The Wizards will have their training camp in late September to make final roster decisions and figure out player roles.
July - October 2013: John Wall Contract Talks
John Wall is hoping for a maximum contract from the Wizards worth near $80 million for five years. If Wall gets his contract, he is expected to be the player to lead the franchise for years to come.
