Alex Ovechkin makes good an Evgeny Kuznetsov's guarantee

Evgeny Kuznetsov made an odd prediction following Game 4. The Caps found themselves down to the Pittsburgh Penguins 3-1 in the series and Alex Ovechkin was catching the brunt of the criticism with no goals since Game 1.

Kuznetsov, however, never lost faith in his captain.

When asked about Ovechkin following Game 4, Kuznetsov made a guarantee: Ovechkin was going to score in Game 5.

Ovechkin made good on that guarantee on Saturday with his third-period tally to put the Caps up 4-2. Ironically enough, the goal came just 27 seconds after Kuznetsov’s go-ahead tally.

“You still don’t trust me?” Kuznetsov joked after the game when asked about Ovechkin’s goal.

“I know him pretty well. … I knew he going to step up for sure. You can see how he played today. That's our captain.”
