Alex Ovechkin is not the only Cap who will miss the IIHF World Championship due to an injury. Marcus Johansson will also miss the tournament due to a previously unknown fracture to his finger, according to a report by Swedish outlet Aftonbladet.

In the report, Johansson said that he would have played, but could not due to the finger and that the fracture may require surgery.

The news for Sweden isn't all bad, however, as fellow countryman Nicklas Backstrom will participate, according to Swedish reporter Jonatan Lindquist.

Backstrom has not represented Sweden since the Olympic Games in Sochi in 2014. This will be his fifth appearance in the World Championship.
