Andre Burakovsky could join the Capitals on their upcoming five-day, three-game trip to California later this week, coach Barry Trotz said Monday morning.

Burakovsky has been sidelined with a broken hand since Feb. 9. He’ll miss his 10th straight game Monday night against the visiting Dallas Stars.

“If he does come out, it’ll be non-contact for a little bit here,” Trotz said. “But he’s progressing really well.”

Trotz did, however, say that a final decision has not been made.

The Caps leave for San Jose on Wednesday.

“We have to determine if he’ll make the trip or stay back,” Trotz said. “I think based on where he is, that he will probably—and give me a little leeway—but he’ll probably be joining us on the trip.”

Burakovsky, who has been skating on his own for several weeks now, told CSN on Friday that he expects to return the lineup in “a couple of weeks.”
