The Capitals re-signed 23-year-old center Travis Boyd to a one-year, $650,000 contract, the team announced Wednesday afternoon.

The 5-11 Hopkins, Minn. native played in 76 games for the Hershey Bears, registering 16 goals and 47 assists.

The 63 points were a career-high for Boyd, who finished third in the AHL in assists and tied for sixth in points.

The Capitals selected Boyd in the sixth round of the 2011 NHL Draft following a solid career at the University of Minnesota, where he was part of the Golden Gophers' Big Ten Championship team in 2014-15.

Boyd was called up to the Capitals in February, but did not appear in any NHL games.
