Artem Anisimov, the Blackhawks’ leading scorer, will miss Friday night’s game against the Capitals due to an injury, Chicago coach Joel Quenneville confirmed.
Anisimov has eight goals and nine assists and is tied for second in the league in points. Winnipeg's Mark Scheifele leads the league with 19 points.
Asked if Anisimov is being held out for precautionary reasons, Quenneville said: “If he was ready, he’d play.”
Anisimov was injured in the second period of the Blackhawks’ 2-1 overtime victory over St. Louis on Wednesday night.
