The Caps re-signed restricted free agent Andre Burakovsky on Tuesday afternoon. It’s a two-year, $6 million bridge contract that carries an average annual salary of $3 million.

The 22-year-old winger amassed 12 goals and 35 points in 64 games last season.

Next year, Burakovsky is expected to move into the top-6 forward group full-time, GM Brian MacLellan said Monday.

Burakovsky’s extension leaves backup goalie Philipp Grubauer as the only restricted free agent who has yet to re-sign. It also gives the Caps 16 players under contract for 2017-18 with about $5.6 million left under the $75 million salary cap ceiling, according to
