Capitals reassign Paul Carey to Hershey after brief stint

Winger Paul Carey has been reassigned to the Hershey Bears, the Capitals announced Monday morning.

Carey made his season debut for the Caps in Sunday’s 3-2 loss to the Blue Jackets.

The 28-year-old journeyman registered a shot on goal, two hits and a blocked shot in 12:08 of ice time.

Carey’s demotion could mean the Capitals are expecting center Lars Eller (upper-body, day-to-day) back for Wednesday’s game against the Blues.

Eller was not on the ice as practice started Monday morning. He did, however, skate by himself prior to the team's practice.

Coach Barry Trotz could have an update on Eller’s status when he speaks to reporters following practice.
