Capitals GM Brian MacLellan announced some shuffling at the bottom of the roster on Wednesday. The team re-assigned winger Riley Barber to the AHL Hershey Bears, then recalled forward Paul Carey.
The 23-year-old Barber saw his first NHL ice time on February 24 in the Capitals' win over the Oilers. He also played against the Predators and Rangers before being re-assigned today. He recorded two shots against Edmonton.
Carey, 28, has also appeared in three games for the Capitals this season in addition to four games last season. He first played for the Capitals this year against the Blue Jackets on November 20, then had a two-game stint December 3 and 5 against the Lightning and Sabres, respectively. He's recorded three shots in three games.
The Capitals' next game is Thursday hosting the New Jersey Devils at the Verizon Center.
