Capitals prospect Madison Bowey is out indefinitely after suffering a slight laceration of the tendon in his ankle in Wednesday’s game against Syracuse, the Hershey Bears announced.
Bowey suffered the injury when he was struck by the skate of an opposing player during the game. He underwent successful surgery in Syracuse Wednesday night and is expected to make a full recovery.
Drafted by the Capitals in the second round of the 2013 draft, Bowey is expected to be one of the bright stars of the future for Washington. The young defenseman has 12 points in 25 games with the Bears this season. He has yet to make his NHL debut.
