BOSTON—John Carlson could return to the Capitals’ lineup on Sunday, Coach Barry Trotz said.

The defenseman has missed three games with a lower body injury that Trotz has indicated is not serious in nature.

Carlson skated Saturday at Kettler Capitals Iceplex, Trotz said.

“He was in the training facility today and got on the ice,” Trotz said. “We’ll see where he is tomorrow. He’s a possibility for tomorrow.”

Brett Connolly, meanwhile, is feeling better though his status for Sunday remains TBD. He also stayed behind in Washington.

“He’s better than he was,” Trotz said of Connolly, who missed his first game since Dec. 21, a stretch of 49 consecutive games.
