The Caps' development camp is set to begin on Monday and you would expect the team's new 2016 draft picks to be the story, but one pick from 2015 may just end up stealing the headlines.

Goalie Ilya Samsonov, the Caps' first round pick in 2015, looks like he will participate in his first development camp with the team. Fellow Russian Stanislav Galiev broke the news on Instagram:

Samsonov did not participate in last year's camp because training camp had already begun for his KHL team, Metallurg Magnitogorsk. This year's development camp will be goalie coach Mitch Korn's first chance to work with Samsonov since he was drafted.

The 19-year-old Samsonov was a surprising pick of the Caps in 2015. He remains under contract in the KHL for another two years.
