February is Hockey Is for Everyone Month in the NHL. It's a principle that the Capitals are celebrating this week with a very impressive guest, Fatima Al Ali.
Al Ali is a female hockey player from Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, who's a member of the country's women's national hockey team. She also happens to be a Capitals fan.
When she met former Cap and hockey ambassador Peter Bondra in November, she wowed him with her stick skills and spinning trick shot. In return, he and the team arranged for her to visit.
Al Ali arrived in Washington this week and got to attend the Wizards' OT thriller against the Cavaliers on Monday night.
Then on Tuesday, she watched a Capitals game in person for the first time. Washington beat Carolina 5-0 for their 10th straight home win. After the game, Al Ali toured the locker room and met the players.
When introduced to Alex Ovechkin, he joked that maybe she could show him and T.J. Oshie some of her skills at practice on Wednesday. She'll be skating with the team at Kettler Capitals Iceplex on Wednesday.
"You guys show me first what you've got," Al Ali said laughing.
Once the night was over, she shared a photo of herself with Ovechkin on Instagram to thank the Capitals.
