Islanders' Casey Cizikas takes skate blade to the arm, returns to ice because 'hockey tough'

Capitals

Early in the first period of the Capitals' Tuesday night game against the New York Islanders, center Casey Cizikas took an errant skate blade from one of his teammates to his left forearm.

It's a scene that even the toughest of players will get squeamish at, and it did not take long for the Islanders medical team to rush onto the ice to escort the 25-year-old to the locker room.

But because this is hockey, and hockey players are what many deem "hockey tough," Cizikas returned to the bench and was back out on the ice before the end of the first period.

The Islanders took a 1-0 lead into the first period intermission thanks to Brock Nelson's 7th goal of the year.
