The leaves are changing, there's a chill in the air and another NHL season is upon us!

There's excitement across the league with everyone at 0-0-0. Every team has high hopes for the season and they all are still in the running for the Stanley Cup. Except Colorado.

It is going to be an interesting year for the Washington Capitals. This year they don't boast the same dominant roster and they won't be the runaway winners of the Presidents' Trophy. There are definite holes on the roster, especially on defense, but don't expect a collapse.

Every team in the NHL has its weaknesses and it is rare for a team to have a roster that was as strong as Washington's used to be. Now the question is do the Caps have the talent to overcome the holes on their roster?

With a hole in the defense's top four and questions on the bottom pair, just where do the Caps stand? Find out here in the first NHL Power Rankings of the season.
