After suffering back-to-back regulation losses for the first time since March 2015, the Caps looked like they were back on track as they rattled off five straight wins. One week later, Washington has lost two out of three and are looking for answers again.

The Caps looked dominant last season from the start en route to winning the Presidents’ Trophy. Washington has not yet been able to return to that form.

But there’s no reason to panic.

The team still remains near the top of the standings, they still are one of the most talented teams in the NHL and, as every single Caps fan should know by now, it’s not about how you start the season, but how you finish.

It’s no surprise to see head coach Barry Trotz switch up the lines frequently in search of the perfect combination. Let him experiment to get this team as prepared as possible for the postseason run and let’s not worry too much about losing two out of three games in mid-November.
