Nicklas Backstrom had a big night last night.

The center recorded his 500th career assist in the Capitals' 1-0 win over Ottowa last night, becoming the first Capitals player to ever do so.

Not only does his record assist put him in elite company for the organization, but getting to 500 in just under 700 games is historical on a much larger level.

Peter Forsberg, Sidney Crosby, Jaromir Jagr, and now Nicklas Backstrom. Not bad company to keep.
