At first glance, Washington defensive lineman Matt Ioannidis' latest Instagram post is nothing out of the ordinary. The picture features him and fellow defenders Jonathan Allen, Daron Payne and Tim Settle sitting on a bench.

However, a quick scroll to the caption is where things get interesting as Ioannidis explains the picture only using the 'wolf' emoji. As the franchise works to select a new name, Red Wolves is a moniker that has quickly gained a lot of traction. This post makes it seem as if the defensive lineman is joining the hype train.

If Ioannidis is truly showing his potential allegiance to the name, he wouldn't be alone. The Red Wolves movement started a couple of weeks back when former Washington cornerback Fred Smoot suggested the name and provided a strong pitch. Since then, it's only grown in size and devotion - on social media anyway.

Fan-wise, the name was at the top of a recent poll on new names and new designs are popping up on social media constantly. Big-name fans are joining in as well, as Brooklyn Nets star Kevin Durant admitted that he liked the idea as well

As for Washington players themselves, Dwayne Haskins and Jonathan Allen have shown support for the Red Wolves movement. Allen even noted that the name would allow the defense to call themselves the 'Wolfpack,' something Ioannidis could have been referencing here.

In terms of player support and the internet, the Red Wolves hype train is doing just fine. However, it doesn't mean that Washington will go with that name. Its momentum inside the organization is relatively unknown, and there are some factors that could hinder its chances.

But, for now, it looks as if the Red Wolves, may have picked up another important supporter.
