The Washington Nationals were featured in a movie called "How Do You Know" in 2010 that featured a cast loaded with Hollywood stars and now it is the Atlanta Braves' turn. On September 21 Clint Eastwood's "Trouble With the Curve" hits theaters with a story surrounding the Nats' N.L. East division rivals.
It is being called the 'anti-Moneyball' in that Eastwood plays an old school scout that doesn't believe in new-age sabermetrics and computer analytics. The movie also includes Amy Adams as Eastwood's daughter, Justin Timberlake as her love interest, and John Goodman as what looks like Eastwood's friend.
Eastwood plays a fictional baseball scout who was responsible for signing Dusty Baker and Tom Glavine, as the trailer says.
The film looks a lot more baseball-focused than "How Do You Know" which was a financial flop and not the most flattering interpretation of a Nationals player, and baseball players in general. We'll see if Eastwood's movie does better.
