Chris Baker and Terrance Knighton have been friends for a long time, and when Knighton signed with the Redskins in the offseason, the pair's dream of playing for the same franchise in the NFL came true.
Now, thanks to Baker and Harris Teeter, the two linemen have achieved another goal, one that, although it won't taste sweeter than taking the field together, should at least compare to it.
According to a press release sent out by the grocery chain, a custom sandwich that was in part built by #92 is set to debut on Monday at all Washington-area stores. The culinary creation's name? "The Swaggy Melt," of course. Sometimes the world is a perfect place.
If you choose to order the sub, though, you better be hungry: It's a Philly cheesesteak that has white American cheese, lettuce, tomato, banana peppers, jalapenos, onions, mayonnaise, steak sauce and some salt and pepper, all of which is piled on top of a white sub roll. And it comes just a little more than two months after Knighton's "Capital Roast Signature Sub" hit Harris Teeter's stands, meaning Joe Barry's defensive front has become pretty popular in the food world.
2015 has proved to be a career year for Baker, who has already notched five sacks this season after only having two in the previous three campaigns combined; therefore, having a delicious snack named in his honor is certainly deserved. And now that it's available to the public, a lot of people will likely look to try it.
However, there is one group you can safely assume won't be among the product's first taste testers: The opposing signal callers who've been taken down by Baker so far. To them, at least, the melt probably doesn't appear too swaggy.
