While many politicians have sounded off against the Redskins name, Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump had a different take. In an interview with the New York Times, Trump made clear he supports the name.
"Honestly, I don’t think they should change the name, unless the owner wanted to," Trump said.
"I know Indians that are extremely proud of that name,” he continued. “They think it’s a positive."
Trump's comments came a few days after another GOP presidential hopeful spoke out on the name. Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush said of the Redskins, "I don’t find it offensive."
