Wide receiver Pierre Garçon is listed as doubtful for Sunday’s game against the Giants, Coach Mike Shanahan said Friday afternoon.
Garçon, who missed last week’s game with the same toe injury that’s hampered him all season, has not practiced at all this week. Shanahan has said the team’s medical staff hopes that rest will be the key to Garçon’s recovery.
Listed as questionable for the Redskins’ NFC opener in the Meadowlands are: Cornerbacks David Jones (Achilles’ tendon) and Cedric Griffin (hamstring), safety Jordan Pugh (concussion), punter Sav Rocca (knee) and fullback Darrel Young.
Young has a history of hamstring ailments dating to last season. If Young – the Redskins’ only fullback – can’t suit up, Shanahan said tight ends Niles Paul, Fred Davis and Logan Paulsen can fill in.
“He didn’t pull it, but it’s tight, it’s tweaked,” Shanahan said of Young. “He didn’t practice today. With those hamstrings you just never know.”
Cornerback DeAngelo Hall (knee), Doug Worthington (calf), Davis (knee) and nose tackle Barry Cofield (shoulder) are all listed as probable.
