Warriors power forward/Swiss army knife Draymond Green is having the best season of his career -- averaging 14.5 points, 9.5 rebounds and 7.4 assists per game. But the first-time All-Star hasn't been too busy to enjoy the success of his Michigan State classmate, Redskins quarterback Kirk Cousins.
"Of course I follow Kirk. He's a good friend of mine,” Green said after Wednesday's 134-121 win over the Wizards. “We graduated the same year. We were at Michigan State at the same time."
When asked about Cousins' "You Like That" catch phrase, Green smiled. "You like that. I like that, too," he quipped.
The Saginaw, Michigan, native wasn't just giving lip service to following Cousins's NFL career. He's clearly been paying attention.
"I'm super happy for [Cousins]. He's had his ups and downs in his first couple of years. To see him come out this year and he lead the NFL in completion percentage, that's huge. He lead them to a playoff berth."
Like a hipster who loved a band before they went platinum, Green was quick to point out that the Michigan State community always expected big things out of Cousins.
"It's great to see Kirk having the success that we all knew he was capable of," he said. "It was amazing and I'm definitely looking forward to him continuing to grow."
