Jay Gruden doesn't have an adonis figure, but he's no slouch either.
The Redskins' head coach was a standout quarterback at Louisville before going to to a successful career in the AFL and NFL Europe.
At practice on Wednesday, Gruden showed his players and the media nearby that he still takes his physique very seriously.
In between drills, Gruden would drop to the ground a crank out a quick set of pushups.
When asked during the press conference why he was doing pushups, Gruden was quick to respond. "Have you seen my body?"
But it's not all about physical fitness for Gruden, apparently. A healthy body breeds a healthy mind, or something like that.
Will Blackmon says Gruden has been turning down pizza lately and opting for salads. He said that's why they have been playing better.— Erin Hawksworth (@ABC7Erin) November 16, 2016
If nothing else, the sight of a coach doing pushups during practice means all is well. The team is in good spirits as crunch time approaches. A victory over the Packers on Sunday night would move the Redskins to 6-3-1 and would keep them in a great position as the race for the playoffs heats up.
