RICHMOND—Like many other teams, the Redskins have an extensive list of players who will not participate in Thursday’s preseason opener and it could grow before kickoff in Cleveland.
According to coach Jay Gruden, TE Logan Paulsen (toe), LB Trevardo Williams (hamstring), WR DeSean Jackson (shoulder), LB Will Compton (groin), CB Bashaud Breeland, (knee), and CB David Amerson are all out with their injuries.
Of these injuries, the only one that is causing concern is Paulsen’s. Gruden said that he went to see foot specialist Dr. James Anderson in North Carolina to have his toe injury diagnosed.
LB Ryan Kerrigan also will sit out the game as a precautionary measure. He had a procedure done on his knee in the spring, causing him to miss most of the offseason program. In addition, WR Jamison Crowder (hamstring) will be evaluated tomorrow to see if he can participate.
Others who have sustained injuries and could be ruled out between now and kickoff are CB DeAngelo Hall (groin), S Jeron Johnson (hamstring), TE Niles Paul (shoulder), TE Jordan Reed (hamstring) and running back Matt Jones (knee).
