Reuben Foster injured, needs to be carted off 3 plays into Redskins OTAs

Reuben Foster injured, needs to be carted off 3 plays into Redskins OTAs

UPDATE: At Jay Gruden's press conference later Monday, the head coach described Foster's injury as "very concerning," but he did not elaborate with more details.

The hope for the 2019 Redskins was that they'd fare much better when it came to injuries compared with their previous two seasons. Things are off to a very bad start, though.

On just the third play of Washington's first OTA session of the offseason, Reuben Foster went down. The linebacker clutched at his left leg and was seen writhing in pain on the Ashburn practice field.

A group of Bruce Allen, Jay Gruden, Greg Manusky and Landon Collins soon circled around Foster, as well as trainers. Shaun Dion Hamilton, a fellow Alabama product, also hung around the defender. Eventually, a cart was brought out for Foster.

After staying on the ground for an extended time, Foster was carted off.

He was in tears, per reports.

The 25 year old was seeing his first action with the Burgundy and Gold and was expected to be an X-factor for Manusky's unit. Last month, the NFL announced it would not suspend him after he was arrested twice for alleged domestic violence.

His injury completed shifted the mood of the practice, which started off focusing on the QB battle between Dwayne Haskins and Case Keenum.

The severity of the injury won't be known until the team provides an update, but as of now, it looks to be a serious one. And just like that, the Redskins are again dealing with a familiar problem.
