We’ve seen news of Redskins signings being broken by the player on Twitter and on Instagram. We may have had our first announcement via Snapchat.

Earlier this morning, Chick Hernandez of CSN tweeted out this image, taken from a post on Vernon Davis’ Snapchat account.

So it appears that Davis, who worked on a one-year deal in 2016, has signed a three-year deal to return to the Redskins.

UPDATE: The Redskins officially announced Davis' return via Twitter.

Even a very close inspection of the picture doesn’t reveal any details of the contract. Davis’ deal last year paid him $2.4 million. He signed that coming off one of the worst years of his career. After he caught 44 passes for 583 yards and two touchdowns in 2016 it’s a good bet that he got a substantial raise.

Davis provides depth behind Jordan Reed, who is very talented but also unlikely to play 16 games every year. And even if Reed doesn’t miss any time, Davis proved to be very valuable as a second tight end lined up with Reed.
