The Redskins are apparently going to make a move that has long been discussed and rumored. Rookie Su’a Cravens is moving from linebacker to safety for the 2017 season..

The source is none other than Cravens himself:

Cravens has been listed as a safety on the roster since the Redskins drafted in the second round in April. But he played almost exclusively at linebacker this season.

But a move to safety has always seemed inevitable. At 6-1 222 his size likely will cause issues at linebacker. Although he may lack ideal speed to play at safety the belief is that he can overcome that with anticipation intelligent play.

Cravens currently is sidelined with an upper arm injury. If the returns this season he will play linebacker and then move to safety when they start preparations for the 2017 season.
